Narcotics haul leads to drug charges

On March 29, a search was conducted at a residence in College Station, Texas. During the search, authorities found a variety of drugs, weapons and gang paraphernalia. As a result, a 26-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. The event was the end of an investigation that had been going on for more than a year.

Texas traffic stop leads to large drug seizure

A routine traffic stop in Texas on January 18 led to the discovery and seizure of 50 pounds of a substance believed to be cocaine, according to a report from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. An FCSO representative says that the drugs would be worth about $5 million if sold on the street. A 50-year-old Mexican national has been taken into custody in connection with the alleged drug haul. Police have yet to determine how the narcotics were smuggled into the United States.

Texas man faces drug charges after traffic stop

A Texas man is facing drug charges after he was arrested by Bryan police at a traffic stop on Dec. 21, 2018. According to police, the 24-year-old man was found carrying almost 30 grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket. The man was arrested by police after they checked the license plate of a car parked on Long Drive. While the car soon drove away from the area, police noticed that the car owner's license was suspended. They pulled the car over near an access road to Texas State Highway 6.

7 people in Texas charged with multiple drug offenses

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office has reported that deputies arrested seven people after conducting searches at two locations. In Stowell, law enforcement searched a property in the 300 block of Avenue E. An RV park in Winnie on the 100 block of Fear Road was the scene of the second search.

Reforms in the First Step Act

The First Step Act, a bill that is in Congress, would make a number of changes to the criminal justice system that could affect individuals in Texas. Some of its changes are issues that are already supposed to be enforced by the Bureau of Prisons but are not.

Report finds growth in charges for marijuana possession

Marijuana has been legalized in a number of states, although Texas is not one of them. However, a report from the FBI that was released on Sept. 24 found an increase in the number of nationwide incidents in which people were taken into custody for marijuana possession.

Police seize marijuana and THC vapes worth $33,000

Police in Texas have reported that drugs with a street value of more than $33,000 were seized during the search of a Sugar Land residence on the morning of Sept. 7. The search was conducted by officers assigned to the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force during an investigation into the distribution and sale of THC extracts and marijuana in the area.
